The Animal Rescue Site

A site that is dedicated to helping the "strays" of the world is The Animal Rescue Site. They are in partnership with a lot of well known pet sites such as Petfinders.com and the Fund for Animals. 100% of the sponsor advertising from this site goes to providing food and care for unwanted animals in shelters.

You can also shop at The Animal Rescue Site store. Everything you buy helps generate additional funds for the care of animals in shelters and sanctuaries.

I love buying for my "Cat Loving" nieces from this on-line store. They have fun and cute items to give as gifts. When you finish your purchase they tell you how many bowls of foods that will be donated to the shelters on your behalf.

Not only have I bought things for my nieces but I proudly wear my "love my cat...love me" necklace.

Angel Food Ministries

My friend Doug told me about Angel Food Ministries. He said this organization is set up to provide top quality food to anyone needing a little help. The amazing thing is there is no qualification from the individual. If you feel that you need this service --- you only have to call them and place an order. You don't have to talk about your personal situation or verify your income. I especially like this system as it give people more dignity.

They provide a box of food that they charge $30 to the individual. Apparently, if this same food is purchased in a store it could cost twice as much. Orders and distributions are handled by local churches and community organizations.

The only thing I don't like is they don't deliver or mail the boxes. We have two elderly neighbors that would greatly benefit from this service if it was mailed as it is hard for them to get out. We may see if our local community center would be interested in provided this service or see if we can get monthly volunteers to pick up food for our neighbors.
